Flight Log 10-03-17

It’s been a little while,

Well, I put off buying more parts for my quad because frankly I was considering doing a new build as I have bought the video transmitter for this one 3 times and after rebuilding everything the only thing that remains OEM is the flight controller, the frame and the camera (which I was considering replacing). I have been studying hard for the CSA+ which I have scheduled to take October 20th so as a reward I went ahead and purchased some new gear.

The FPV display I have been using came with the quad and lies on the receiver as shown in previous photos. FPV displays are good and fine but the fun comes when you are flying dedicated FPV via goggles or a face mounted display. The options for goggles vs face mounted displays are something to consider as the goggles are very sleek, look cool and perform well. At the price point I was willing to spend however, the ones that would offer the same features as the face mounted display that I ended up purchasing would have been in the 3x or $300-$400 range.  That being said I went with the Eachine Goggles Two for $110. These boast a 40 channel receiver with diversity, 1080p display and a HDMI interface powered by a 7.4V 2200mAh LiPo battery. The HDMI interface is especially interesting for an idea that I have regarding a face mounted computer project that I will be working on in the future. This computer project will involve a RasPi 3, Battery pack to power it and the RasPi Camera module.

Additional parts purchased are another VTx, a Flysky 2.4ghz receiver, and additional screws.

The FPV display has been received but I am waiting on the parts listed above with an estimated arrival of today. I will need to flash the receiver in order to work with my transmitter but hopefully I will be up in the air this afternoon!  Should that be the case I will update this post to include footage of flying as well as any notes.
